Work in Progress: Kim
Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 9:10PM I cleaned up the studio yesterday and spent most of the afternoon and evening painting. The images below are of Kim. The left-most image is the painting as I left it in June. The middle image is a photo of my studio today and a portion of the painting. The right-most image is the painting as I left it tonight. It may not seem like that much progress has been made, but I've shifted and repainted two of the planters, begun to paint the plants, and started to think about her hands...

The painting continues to evolve. I spent some time on the window frame and blinds. No huge changes, but steady progress...The image quality of this photograph is relatively poor and the color is significantly muted.

One step forward, two steps back?

There's been some improvement in the face and I think that it is resembling Kim more now. It's definitely feeling more solid. But then there's the constant issue - the more solid my paintings become, the more the painting loses the drawing lines and history I like so much.
